Collective initiatives leading to agreements between actors in the agri-food supply chain have the potential to make a significant contribution to a sustainable food system, ensuring that actors in the food value chain (vertically or horizontally) collaborate effectively to deliver agreed outcomes and ultimately contribute to the achievement of the national and EU goals. The future development of such initiatives depends on the knowledge and ability of stakeholders to manage any challenges.
In the first meeting, members took stock of the new regulatory framework and began to identify the key challenges and opportunities for Sustainability Agreements, with a particular focus on what Sustainability Agreements could mean for businesses, the environment, and the consumer.
Aims of the meeting
- Further explore how the added value of Sustainability Agreements is being realised by businesses and consumers alike.
